Excited to Share at All In The Mind!

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ll be presenting at All In The Mind, discussing a topic close to my heart: “Loneliness in Later Life: Recognising It and Responding Well.”

I’ll also have the pleasure of joining a panel discussion with other insightful speakers and contributors.

My session is designed for older adults and their caregivers. We’ll explore the emotional experience of loneliness in later life, looking at why it often goes unnoticed and highlighting the vital roles that connection, purpose, and feeling valued play in our lives.

I can’t wait to share the day with fantastic speakers tackling important themes like resilience, sleep, mental wellbeing, trauma recovery, and practical ways communities can uplift mental health.

Together, we’ll discuss the emotional impact of loneliness as we age, examining how the loss of roles, identity, and connections can silently influence our mental wellbeing. We’ll also uncover strategies to foster deeper, more meaningful connections - beyond just social interactions.

All In The Mind is a full-day community mental health forum presented by Rotary Clubs of Emerald & District, Belgrave, Boronia & Monbulk. The event brings together leading voices in lived experience, advocacy, clinical practice and research. The aim is to strengthen mental health in our community, reduce stigma and provide the public with some practice strategies.

Keynote Speaker - Craig Hamilton who is one of Australia’s most respected voices in mental health advocacy. Many will now him from his years as a sports broadcaster with the ABC. Craig’s most powerful work began when he chose to speak publicly about his own lived experience with Bipolar Disorder. In doing so he changed the national conversation.

There will be other speakers, including myself, and a panel discussion on a variety of topics throughout the day.
